AMORAS technology for dewatering sediment
Saving valuable space through mechanical dewatering of sediment
To keep harbours accessible, millions of cubic metres of (highly) polluted sediment have to be dredged yearly. Storage of sediment takes up valuable space and poses huge environmental risks. Therefore, MWH has developed the AMORAS technology, where sediment is dewatered and the quality is continuously monitored, so that the volume is reduced and a majority of the material can be recycled. MWH is currently working on an installation in the Port of Antwerp, which will save Antwerp about eighty hectares of scarce land.
