Coastal and urban development project at Bohai Sea

Ecological coastal city in China

Through an international competition, the Dutch consulting engineers of DHV were selected for a prestigious coastal and urban development project in Caofeidian, an industrial area at China’s Bohai Sea. Once developed, the city will cover an area of 150 square kilometres and provide space for one million inhabitants. DHV is creating an island and lagoon structure comparable to the Dutch Wadden Sea. This allows fresh water to be produced sustainably for use in the city’s green spaces.
