Designing a geothermal power station
Bringing up earth heat for energy
The city of Munich has contracted Grontmij for the planning, design and preparations for the construction of Germany’s biggest geothermal power station in nearby Sauerlach. Drillings for heat stored in the earth will reach depths of around 4,200 metres. Water of about 140 degrees Celsius will be pumped from the depths of the earth: 240 litres per second. Through a heat exchanger, the heat will be transformed into energy. Geothermal energy is a very sustainable kind of energy supply.
