Immersed tube tunnels in South Korea

Dutch expertise in immersed tube tunnels applied to South Korean conditions

The Busan-Geoje Fixed Link connects the island of Geoje with the South Korean mainland, through a 8.2 kilometre long motorway with two large cable stayed bridges and a 3.3 kilometre long immersed tube tunnel. Arcadis provided the necessary expertise on immersed tunnels and offshore matters. The Dutch engineers of Arcadis faced poor ground conditions, the possibility of earthquakes, typhoons and tsunamis to make this project possible.
